SCALLIONS
Scallions are vegetables of various Allium onion species. Scallions are also called green onions. Scallions have a milder taste than most onions. Their close relatives include garlic, shallot, leek, chive, spring onion and Chinese onion. They are either harvested very young from the regular bulb-forming onions we are familiar with, or they can come from other varieties that actually never form bulbs.
Scallions are low in calories and fat-free and provide some fiber. They have calcium, iron and vitamin C, as well as vitamins A and K.
