CHIVES
Chives, scientific name Allium schoenoprasum, are an edible species of the genus Allium. Their close relatives include the garlic, shallot, leek, scallion, and Chinese onion. A perennial plant, it is widespread in nature across much of Europe, Asia, and North America.
Chives are an attractive garnish for green salads, taste great when sprinkled on grilled fish or baked potatoes, add dimension to creamy potato soup and are delicious stirred in mashed potatoes.
Chives are high in vitamin K, are an excellent source of vitamin A, are high in fiber and contain antioxidants.
